About Me

I started this blog in 2011 on iWeb (now defunct) as a way to share my favorite recipes and the stories behind them. I’ve been active in the kitchen since I was a child, baking up batches of snickerdoodles at 8 years old and then cooking dinner on the weekends with my grandparents.

I’m a prolific home cook, entertain regularly, and take great pleasure in enjoying a meal with friends and family. I love good champagne, red wines from the Rhône region, and of course – a craft cocktail! And don’t forget the cake. I love cake. I have professional culinary and mixology training and I know my way around a kitchen, but I really am just a home cook that loves spending time in my kitchen. I’m not a serious photographer or food stylist so I don’t spend hours laboring over just the right photo, but I always have a camera nearby. I am THAT person that takes a picture of their meal at restaurants.

When I was teaching full time and had young children I cooked quicker and easy meals on the weeknights and spent hours in the kitchen on the weekends. I have always kept a notebook (and now a laptop) to document my recipes and variations so that I could pass them along to family and friends. The recipes here are just a smidgeon of my collection I’ve created over decades of marriage (to my high school sweetheart) .


My favorite meals are always simple, seasonal, and straightforward. I support the Slow Food movement, small farms, and local farmstands. Supporting local farmers brings money to our local economy and with that comes food security and safety. Make friends with a farmer! Choose local.
